A Druidic view of Death November 5, 2014
Reviewer: Andarta from Arvada, CO United States
Kristoffer Hughes' recent publication Journey Into Spirit is a gently woven text which combines personal experience with death and an analysis of past and present views on the subject. Broaching this topic is a difficult endeavor, yet Hughes brings in his own experiences as a mortician and a psychopomp. The book is structured around his Druidic studies, explaining to the reader the three realms of existence, yet he does so in a fashion that is applicable to all spiritual paths. He challenges the current pagan belief system concerning death and rebirth that reflects the eastern perceptions of reincarnation, and instead offers a different theory of the All. This is not a book to try and skim through because he brings the reader into the discussion by posing reflective questions throughout. I highly recommend individuals as well as pagan communities to read this text to create more of a discussion on communal death rites, as well as to face our own fears of death and dying.
